SAN DIEGO PRESS CLUB
ANNOUNCES 2007-08 OFFICERS;
BARBARA METZ TO SERVE AS PRESIDENT

 

SAN DIEGO (Nov. 1, 2007) – The San Diego Press Club recently announced its 2007-08 board of directors, as well as its slate of officers for the year. Taking charge as president of the non-profit organization with nearly 400 active members is longtime member and 30-year public relations veteran Barbara Metz.

 

Sorrento Hills resident Metz has had a diversified career. Running her own firm, Metz Public Relations, since 1987, she previously was vice president of public relations for Roni Hicks & Associates and director of public relations for Phillips-Ramsey, Inc. Current clients include The Otay Ranch Company, San Elijo Hills, MSK Development Group, Murphy Development, the San Diego Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers, Orfila Vineyards & Winery, Art Expressions Gallery and inSITE, a binational art exhibit. A member of the San Diego Press Club for many years, Metz has served as chair of the Journalism Awards and co-chair of the
Headliners Awards.

 

In addition to Metz being selected as president, other officers of the 16-member Press Club board include: First Vice President Chuck Fox; Second Vice President Andy Crossland; Treasurer Reid Carroll; and Secretary Dennis Morgigno. Immediate past president is Laura Walcher.

 

Other members of the board of directors include: Mary Ann Eger, Gayle Lynn Falkenthal, Robert Griswold, Sally Hixson, Ron James, Nicole Sours Larson, Gloria Penner, Jan Rieger, Frank Saldana, Tom Shanahan and Lee Swanson.

 

The San Diego Press Club is one of the largest clubs of its kind in the nation with nearly 400 members in the news communications field.
